A2: Isometric Project

Image
Here is the GDD for this project: Isometric is a type of orthographic projection, which is a method  of mapping a three dimensional object onto a two dimensional space, the scale along each axis Is the same. Isometric projections are used to create 3D-like images of objects. In short this means the camera only focuses on one angle the whole entirety of the game.  Insometric games are something like Minecraft Dungeons or Hades. Some examples are shown below: Here is some Models I made in Maya for the upcoming isometric game. It is a pillar to be used as a background item will collision, this was made with using the extrude tool and the edge loops tool. How is Trigonometry is used in games? Trigonometry can be used in many ways inside of game development. such as calculating angles and distances such as vectors and such. It can also be used to determine player speed overall. Examples of Trigonometry in Isometric Games: 1. Minecraft Dungeons: The vectors in this photo represent t...

ANIMATION FUNDAMENTALS

ANIMATION PRINCIPLES CHALLENGE . The 12 principles of animation are stages of animation and how an animation is styled depending on which principle is used to animate someone or something in a 2D/3D space. Animators use these to make their models animations look more smooth and realistic for movement. I mostly used squash and stretch with a mix of movement of objects within Maya to simulate how objects would move in a final project.  I have learnt that Animation is an enjoyable factor of Game Development and it is limitless to what you can do with it. My Reflection The quality of my animation is basic enough to where it is smooth and the minimum of realism that you would see inside a game, however the ball squashing the rectangle could be more realistic looking. This is also using Mayas Animation Timeline with the use of Rotation and Movement to make it look like it is swinging realistically. Here is a Bouncy Ball we made in Maya using graphs to make the animation look reali...

Stylised Character 3-D Modelling Here is my GDD for this project. - A.1 Explore and develop investigation skills for informing ideas. Character Concepts Character Ideas and Traits These small slides are used to help develop the characters appearance and traits used for the character. Like their traits, appearance, story, how they were introduced, and so on. 3D Character This was the start of my character meshed out from a cube in Maya, starting off with the head and the body. It was a quick model of the final product. This was done by using basic edge loops and scaling  tools. I had started off with a cube. This model was an updated concept of the final model, not many changes have been added apart from the attention to detail of adding arms and legs and shaping the face better, this was done with extrusion and edge loops. Now the model has been given arms, legs, and a weapon, I also modelled the shape of the face to make it less bland for my low poly character. This was als...

A1: Noir Game

Image
Here is my GDD for this project. Noir -  a genre of crime film or fiction characterized by cynicism, fatalism, and moral ambiguity. Noir is a type of a style mostly greyscale in a game or film with occasional lighter colours like red. Noir is usually used for games/films produced in the 1940's-1950's, mostly used in crime dramas. Commonly referred to as the "classic period". Noir focuses on dark themes, but has a glint of hope in the back of the plot, usually turning all the dark and depressing plot into a happy ending for every character either way. Which is what happens in all of these Movies/Video Games depending on what the case is. Noir mostly relies on shadows and outlines to create a scene for a movie or  cut scene, taking place in alleyways and other dark uncrowded areas with not many people around to create more effect on the person playing/watching. Hollow Knight is a perfect example for a Noir game as the colour pallet is mostly black and white throughout...
